1941 Ford Restomod - $29,500

I'm sure you've seen plenty of Fords from the 1940s, but you probably haven't seen one like this. It is a 1941 2-door sedan that was completely restored in 2006, but with a twist - it was melded with a 2000 Mercury! It has all the look and style of a cool 1941 Ford, but with the comfort, convenience, and reliability of a late-model car.

As you might imagine, this effort involved replacing the engine and transmission with Ford's modern 4.6L fuel injected motor and a 4-speed automatic overdrive unit, along with the Mercury's radiator and emissions equipment (dual exhaust with a very nice sound). But wait, there's more! The entire Mercury dashboard and gauge package came along as well. So did the power steering, tilt column, and steering wheel. The cruise control works just like it did in the Mercury. The AM/FM/cassette stereo and clock are there. The power window switches, dome lights, and electric wiper controls were brought over (no more vacuum headaches). The Mercury air conditioning would not fit under the Ford's tapered hood, so a Vintage Air unit was installed in its place.

There are many additional custom features as well. The car has power front and rear disc brakes, along with a Mustang II front end. The frenched headlights are from a 1953 Buick, while the frenched taillights were donated from a 1960 Oldsmobile. The nerf bars are all hand-made. The faux spotlights and side exhaust complete the look.

The exterior is all steel with the classic look of a black body with a flamed front. The paint was professionally done and is excellent! It shines beautifully and doesn't have any ripples or cracks. All chrome and moldings are in fabulous shape. The car retains its original mirrors and glass, which are in unbelievable condition. It has reverse chrome wheels with bullet caps (have baby moons as well), and the tires are Coker P195-75R14 in front and P225-75R15 in back.

The interior has new seat cushions all around, covered in beautiful Cadillac Oxblood material with lap belts front and rear. The carpet and headliner are new and professionally done. The trunk is also carpeted with a matching spare tire cover and battery box.

This car is very well done and is well sorted out, with about 2,000 miles since restoration (including a 500-mile trip to the Back-To-The-50's weekend in Minneapolis). It is classic Ford street rod on the outside, with late-model technology on the inside. Don't just buy a street rod that looks great; buy one that you can drive anywhere without compromise!
