FUN. That's what this car is all about. It doesn't have show quality paint, and some of the sheetmetal has been patched. The interior is not immaculate. The engine and underside are certainly not spotless. But get in this car, fire it up, mash the throttle and you'll be smiling ear-to-ear.

This is a 1965 Fairlane 500 Sport Coupe. It is an original A-code 289ci 4-barrel car with a T10 4-speed transmission, with center console. This does make for a rather rare and desirable Fairlane. The engine is nearly indestructible, with plenty of power to make this old girl squeal all night as you run through the gears. Just leave plenty of stopping distance, as the brakes are manual drums. There is power steering, though.

The suspension will get you through corners, but with generous body roll. It all adds to the driving experience. The dual exhaust is equipped with glass packs that are the perfect touch for this car. Wait til you hear it!

The car was originally Tropical Turquoise, but was repainted the present lighter blue color about five years ago. The body is reasonably straight, and the VIN is still present in the inner fender. I think the Cragar wheels really give a nice accent to the car. The tires are all in great shape too.

The interior is rather spartan. The front seats have been recovered. They are fairly comfortable and look great. The carpeting is okay and there are a couple tears in the headliner. All gauges and indicators work, as do the wipers, horn, and heater/defroster. There is also a very nice JVC KD-A815 stereo with a built-in USB jack for easy iPod connectivity, among other things.

You might not expect an old Fairlane to be so much fun to drive. Well stop thinking like that and come try this car out. Just let me come along for the ride.
