The Acura NSX was a revolution in exotic cars, bringing genuine practicality and unheard of reliability to the market segment. And as the first supercar from Japan, it introduced a host of innovations. It was the first production car with aluminum monocoque construction along with aluminum body panels, suspension, and engine. It had the first engine with variable valve timing (VTEC) and a variable volume intake manifold. It was a mid-engine car that didn't have outrageous blind spots or an engine that overheats. There was simply nothing else like it.

This 1991 model will make your heart beat faster just by looking at it. The black exterior has such a sleek, sinister look, especially at night. The only modifications from stock are the tinted windows and custom Simmons wheels (from the 2002 CART NSX pace car). It has been professionally maintained by Acura throughout its 140k miles. Nothing has been left to chance. And remember, this is an Acura (high end of Honda) we're talking about! To prove my point, I am including a 3-month 3,000 mile warranty.

The 252 hp motor runs perfectly. It has such a smooth sound, burns no oil, runs cool, and has excellent oil pressure. The engine was designed with titanium connecting rods for a 7,500 rpm redline, and the closer you get, the meaner it sounds. This car is a rare 4-speed automatic that still shifts better than many 2011 models.

The suspension and brakes are phenomenal. With a curb weight of only 2,900 pounds due to the extensive use of aluminum, the car performs magnificently. The electronic power steering system has an outstanding sports car feel. The Yokohama tires have less than 1,500 miles on them.

The interior is a beautiful blend of black and ivory. The leather power seats are very comfortable and remarkable condition, with just a minimum of wear on the drivers seat bolster. It is a testament to the quality of materials used throughout. Also, there is a very practical trunk space behind the engine.

These cars are quite rare, having a total US production of less than 9,000 cars. Fewer than 10% were automatics, so this example is very rare indeed! With its excellent performance, amazing looks, and technological significance this car will be a desired collectible in years to come.

There is nothing close to this level of overall performance and appearance for the money. Not to mention, this car will draw more "oohs" and "aahs" than cars costing 10x as much with 1/10 the reliability. So let people call it a "Ferrari" or "Lamborghini"; you can just smile and truly enjoy the ride.
